Raiden Melon (Hokkaido, Green Flesh) 7 pcs
※ Images are for illustration purposes
Raiden Melon (Hokkaido, Green Flesh) 7 pcs
らいでんメロン 北海道 青肉 7玉
■ About Raiden Melon Raiden is a branded melon grown mainly in Kyowa, Hokkaido. The name comes from Mt. Raiden, which rises over the area. Sea breezes from the Sea of Japan, mineral-rich sandy soil and a wide day-night temperature gap combine to produce melons with high sugar content. It has long been regarded as one of Hokkaido's finest melons. ■ Green-flesh character This is the green-flesh (aoniku) type, with pale green flesh. Where red-flesh melons are rich and melting, green flesh offers a cleaner, more refined sweetness with abundant juice. Sugar content is around 15 degrees Brix. The aroma is gentle and the finish is light, making it well suited as a dessert after a meal. The flesh melts in the mouth while retaining a pleasant firmness. ■ Specification 7 pieces per case (approximately 1.4-1.6 kg each). Size varies slightly with harvest timing. We select fruit with fine, evenly formed netting. ■ Season Late June to early September, at its best in July and August. ■ Ripening and when to eat Melons continue to ripen after harvest. They may still be firm on arrival, so please ripen them at room temperature in a cool place. Signs that a melon is ready: - The base (opposite the stem) yields slightly when pressed gently - A sweet aroma develops - The stem becomes thin and dry Once ripe, chill for 2-3 hours before serving. Avoid prolonged refrigeration, which dulls the sweetness. ■ Storage Room temperature before ripening; refrigerate at 10-15 degrees C once ripe. After cutting, cover and refrigerate, and enjoy the same day. Best enjoyed within about one week of arrival. ■ How to enjoy Halve lengthwise, scoop out the seeds and cut into wedges. The sweetness extends close to the rind, so very little is wasted. A classic pairing with prosciutto. ■ Perfect for Summer greetings, corporate gifts and seasonal hampers. A Hokkaido brand melon is always well received as a gift.

Kosui Pear (Chiba)
※ Images are for illustration purposes
Kosui Pear (Chiba)
幸水 千葉県産
■ About Kosui Kosui is the early-season Japanese pear (nashi) that defines summer in Japan. Registered as a variety in 1959, it has been the most widely grown Japanese pear for over half a century. The fruit is round and gently shaped, with a bright yellow-brown skin. ■ Taste and texture What sets Kosui apart is its sheer juiciness. A single bite releases a flood of juice along with a light, crisp, granular texture. Sugar content is around 12-13 degrees Brix, and acidity is very low, so the sweetness comes through cleanly and elegantly. The flesh is fine-grained and tender, sweet right up to the skin. Unlike a European pear, it is not soft and buttery — it is refreshing and crisp. ■ About Chiba Prefecture Chiba is one of Japan's foremost producers of Japanese pears, centred on the cities of Shiroi, Ichikawa and Kamagaya. Well-drained Kanto loam soil and abundant summer sunshine produce fruit with high sugar content. Each pear is bagged individually and the crop is thinned so that nutrients concentrate into fewer, larger fruit. Growers harvest only when they judge the fruit to be at its peak, and pears picked in the morning are graded the same day. ■ Specification Approximately 5 kg per case, 12-14 pieces (roughly 350-420 g each). The count varies with harvest timing and season. ■ Season Early August to early September, at its best in mid-August. As an early variety the window is short — roughly one month per year. ■ Storage Keep refrigerated at 3-8 degrees C. Drying dulls the texture, so wrap each fruit in paper or a plastic bag and keep it in the vegetable compartment. Best enjoyed within about one week of arrival. ■ How to enjoy Chill for 2-3 hours before serving, peel and cut into vertical wedges — the outer flesh is sweeter than the core, so vertical wedges give an even sweetness. Also excellent in salads, with prosciutto, or grated as a tenderiser for meat dishes. ■ Please note Japanese pears do not ripen further after harvest, unlike European pears. They arrive ready to eat, so please enjoy them promptly. The small brown dots on the skin are lenticels, a natural characteristic of the variety, not a defect. ■ Perfect for Summer greetings, corporate gifts and seasonal hampers. Ready to serve straight from the refrigerator, it also suits hospitality use.

Hosui Pear (Chiba)
※ Images are for illustration purposes
Hosui Pear (Chiba)
豊水 千葉県産
■ About Hosui Hosui is a leading Japanese pear (nashi) variety that comes into season from late August, taking over from Kosui. Registered in 1972, Hosui and Kosui together are regarded as Japan's two principal pear varieties. As its name suggests (hosui means abundant water), it is exceptionally juicy, and the fruit grows noticeably larger than Kosui. The skin is a reddish brown and the fruit has a satisfying heft. ■ Taste and texture Sugar content is around 13 degrees Brix, higher than Kosui. What makes Hosui distinctive is the depth that comes from pairing that sweetness with a gentle acidity — the flavour is rich and full rather than simply sweet. The flesh is tender and fine-grained, releasing an abundance of juice. Where Kosui is clean and refreshing, Hosui is rich and full-bodied. ■ Hosui compared with Kosui - Season: Kosui runs early August to early September; Hosui late August to mid September - Flavour: Kosui is cleanly sweet; Hosui is richly sweet with a touch of acidity - Size: Hosui is larger, roughly 350-450 g per fruit Carrying both varieties allows you to offer Japanese pears continuously from early August through mid September. Best enjoyed within about one week of arrival. ■ How to enjoy Chill for 2-3 hours before serving, peel and cut into vertical wedges — the outer flesh is sweeter than the core, so vertical wedges give an even sweetness. Its rich juice also makes it well suited to compotes and smoothies. ■ Please note Japanese pears do not ripen further after harvest, unlike European pears. They arrive ready to eat, so please enjoy them promptly. The small brown dots on the skin are lenticels, a natural characteristic of the variety, not a defect. ■ Perfect for Summer and early-autumn greetings, corporate gifts and seasonal hampers. Its generous size makes it particularly well received as a gift.

Persimmon
※ Images are for illustration purposes
Persimmon
"When persimmons turn red, doctors turn pale" — this ancient Japanese proverb speaks to the extraordinary nutritional power of the persimmon, Japan's beloved autumn treasure. Premium persimmons from Wakayama and Nara prefectures conceal lusciously sweet flesh beneath their vibrant orange skin. The Fuyu variety offers a firm yet juicy experience that can be enjoyed immediately, while others develop a custard-like richness when fully ripened. Packed with twice the vitamin C of oranges and abundant vitamin A, persimmons are nature's autumn wellness gift. In Japanese culture, the word "kaki" (persimmon) sounds like "kaki" meaning "good things to come" — making it a fruit of good fortune. HOW TO ENJOY: Firm varieties: chill, peel, and slice into wedges. Soft-ripened: scoop with a spoon like custard. Surprisingly delicious in salads, on yogurt, or paired with prosciutto and blue cheese. PERFECT FOR: Autumn greetings, year-end gifts, children's milestone celebrations, and business inaugurations. The auspicious symbolism makes persimmons an especially meaningful gift for new beginnings and ventures.

Loquat
ビワ
Ephemeral and exquisite — the Loquat (Biwa) is perhaps Japan's most fleeting fruit treasure, available for only a few precious weeks in early summer. Grown in the mild climates of Nagasaki and Chiba, loquats hold a special place as one of Japan's rarest and most delicate fruits. Beneath the thin, pale-orange skin lies juicy, sweet flesh with a refined sweetness, gentle acidity, and a distinctive fragrance that lingers unforgettably in memory. Each fruit is a perfect capsule of early summer. Extremely perishable with a shelf life of just days, loquats earn the title "phantom fruit" due to their limited availability. Hand-picked with utmost care and air-freighted at maximum speed to ensure peak freshness upon arrival. In traditional Chinese medicine, loquat leaves have been valued for centuries for respiratory and digestive health — making this fruit as nourishing as it is delicious. HOW TO ENJOY: Enjoy immediately upon arrival (shelf life approximately 3 days). Simply peel and eat. Also elegant as a compote or in delicate jelly desserts. PERFECT FOR: Early summer greetings, recovery wishes, and as a "seasonal surprise" for someone special. The extreme rarity and fleeting nature of loquats make them an extraordinarily meaningful gift — a way of saying "I wanted you to experience this moment."

From the farmers and producers, through our authorised distribution partners and air-cargo handling process, every effort is made to ensure that the fruits are carefully selected, properly packed, protected and handled with care before shipment. Although we take all reasonable precautions to protect the fruits, we cannot guarantee that every fruit will arrive in exactly the same perfect condition as when it was packed. During transportation and handling, particularly at transit points or the final destination, minor dents, marks, bruises, surface blemishes or other cosmetic imperfections may occasionally occur. Such minor imperfections do not necessarily indicate that the fruit is spoiled or unsuitable for consumption. The natural appearance of delicate fresh fruit may vary, and even the most careful transportation process cannot completely eliminate the possibility of minor cosmetic damage. Our farmers, distribution partners, logistics providers and air-cargo handling partners all make every reasonable effort to ensure that your fruits arrive in the best possible condition. Nevertheless, due to the delicate and perishable nature of fresh Japanese seasonal fruits, SHUNSAIDO cannot guarantee that every fruit will arrive in 100% perfect cosmetic condition.
